Success is something we all want. We all want to be super successful and live the most lavish life.
What is success?
We all have different definitions of success. For some, success means to be the boss and for others, it means to win a sports tournament. Many of us relate success to push-ups and many think earning to eat with dignity is a success.
There is no fixed definition of success or failure. It’s how an individual defines it.
An artist, a musician, a therapist, a top-notch CEO of an MNC. Whatever you are, whoever you inspire to be. No matter how big or small our goal is, there are a few common things that we must keep in mind to be successful in our field.
Follow your dreams
This is the first and the most important thing to know and abide by. Your dreams are your inspiration. And if you inspire yourself to be what your heart says, you will definitely be successful. No matter how big or small, near or far your dream seems to be. If you start working towards it, it will happen.
If you want to be a footballer, you will never mind working extra hard for it. The practice sessions will never be stressful for you. But if you want to be a footballer and work hard towards being an engineer, some simple science will also seem like rocket science for you.
It’s okay if your dreams don’t make sense to everyone around you.
Set your goals high!
Never underestimate yourself.
Have you ever wondered what would have happened if Edison would have thought inventing the bulb is not possible? We might have still been without a bulb.
Or If Steve Jobs would have not believed in himself. What if he thought, let’s leave it? Who will buy my apple phone I should do a 9 to 5 job?
If you don’t believe in yourself no one will. You need to believe in what you see in the mirror!
And once when you succeed in what you choose to do, everyone will want to be with you.
For example, I always loved to write but never did I once think about sharing my thoughts with anyone. I always thought, who would want to read what I write? It’s not good enough.
One day I randomly shared one of my articles with my friend. She appreciated it and forwarded it to her contacts. For the longest time, I kept thinking that my friend did it because she likes me.
Today many people want to hear me, read my articles and so many appreciate me for what I do.
Never, let the idea of doing something different, stop you.
Don’t fear failure.
Have you seen a baby learning to walk? He falls so many times before walking straight.
Similarly, if you are failing at what you are doing, consider it a part of your journey. You might need to change your technique. Not your dream.
Failure doesn’t mean that you lack talent.
It’s perfectly normal to fail. Sometimes it’s necessary to fall because that’s how we learn to dust off our problems and run with higher energy.
Failure is losing your energy and passion to work towards your dreams.
Don’t compare, instead compete
Not everyone has the same abilities and goals in life. Once you keep this clear in your head, you will never compare yourself with anyone.
Working to the fullest of your capabilities is important. If you keep worrying that your friend is more successful than you, then you can’t grow because you will end up wasting all your energy on feeling sorry for yourself.
Success is not about feeling happy about someone’s failure but feeling happy about our achievements.
A bird can fly and a fish can swim. No matter how hard they try, they can’t live a life like each other.
So is the case with human beings. We all have different powers and we must work to excel at them.
Healthy competition can make the path towards our success more fun. But only monkeys have the characteristics of mimicking and falling.
Opinions don’t matter. Be confident.
Suggestions should always be welcomed but it’s not wise to take everyone’s opinion. Because when you are doing something different, many people try to pull you down and others criticize you. Some might think that you are crazy. But the key to be successful lies in your hands.
No one believed what Newton said until he proved the law of attraction. So, it’s perfectly okay if people don’t accept you or think that you are crazy. Just ignore criticism and keep going.
Like I always say ignore namah and just keep going!
When you look back at the life and feel proud of yourself, consider it a success.
P.S. learnt from my life experiences. I am a proud learner for life.
