5 practical tips to achieve your goals in 2022

We all have goals in life. Someone wants to get married, someone wants to earn more money and many of us struggle to have perfect relationships. There are different segments of life where we struggle to get things going, but the pace and paths to achieving the goals are always different.

From wanting to top the class as a child to wanting to be a successful breadwinner of the family. From staying up all night to watch a movie to wanting to have a peaceful sleep at night. Our goals change with time and priorities.

My own story

For the longest time I lived my life like a headless chicken. I always prioritised what others wanted. Led my life with a vision that was only beneficial for people I cared about.

To say it in simpler words, pleasing people was my one and only goal in life. Never did I think about my wishes, aspirations, comforts, or goals.

No one told me to live my life like that but that’s what my vision was.

With no goals in life, I depended on others for my joys of life. But life completely changed for good, the day I tied my shoelaces and started walking towards my goal.

My goal to become a life coach and writer to help people gave me a feeling of fulfillment that I had never experienced before in my life.

Why is achieving the goals important?

Time changes our priorities and goals. But our goals provide us with a vision that brings motivation to our lives. And this is exactly what happened to me. My goal to write and life coach to motivate people for a better tomorrow transformed my life.  This new perspective of life provided me with a new me. It helped me to introduce myself with my capabilities and strengths. To my joys and accomplishments.

Achieving goals is a shift from where we are in life to where we want to be in life.

The journey sometimes becomes challenging and tiring but the key always lies in trying again and again.

It’s important to achieve goals to feel satisfied with who we are. And to love ourselves for who we are becoming.

What are the problems that we face while achieving the goals?

As a woman born in an Indian conservative family speaking out my heart was challenging. It was challenging to pursue my dreams because not everyone around me was a motivator.

People around us come from different walks of life. Not everyone thinks like us, not everyone is a supporter. This one thought stopped me from achieving my goals for the longest time.

But truth to be told, today when I am confidently doing what I love, I realize that no one stops us. No one decides or is responsible for where we stand in life. Our thought process and the habit of procrastinating our growth often becomes a hurdle in our own life.

Once we learn to battle with our own thoughts and opinions we can very well conquer the world.

A stable mindset is all that we need to be who we want to be.

How to overcome problems and achieve goals?

Being a woman who truly believes that achieving goals is the birthright of every human.  Achieving goals is a piece of cake. That’s exactly what I thought before I started putting my thoughts into practice and my goals into action. I also realised that simple choices are sometimes the hardest to make.

Society’s opinion, low budget, or our own thought process can be our biggest hurdle.

Though we can’t do anything about people’s opinions, we can surely change our mindset.

There is no magic mantra to achieving the goals. You need to just start!
Just Start!

Here are a few thoughts that helped me achieve my goals.

  1. Act before you react: if you have an idea to start your business or if you have a goal to lose weight. Don’t sit and think about the do’s and don’ts. Just follow your heart and believe in yourself. Take a practical  physical action and you will surely be on your path to succeed.
  2. Don’t  force yourself: There will surely be days when you feel like nothing is falling into place and you just don’t want to hit the treadmill. On those days be easy on yourself. Over burdening yourself will only lead to stress (which is never fruitful).
  3. Don’t allow anyone’s opinion to stop you:  no matter what field you choose there will always be a set of people who will be unhappy with what you do. No amount of effort can please such people.  Be cautious of such people and make sure you pay no heed to what they say. Work hard towards your goals, no matter what anyone says.
  4. Stay focused: It is very important to stick to your path to achieve your goals. If your goal requires you to avoid that three course meal then do it. Or if your goal wants you to work hard to prepare for tomorrow, then do it. Don’t  focus on those distractions that will lead you nowhere. Like I always say, if the distraction is distracting you then it’s doing its job and you are not.
  5. Be consistent: Good things take time to happen. Weight loss or a promising business can’t develop overnight. Time and patience is the key to success here. Most of the entrepreneurs lose their patience while they are still on their journey. Don’t let that happen to you. Exercise, study, write and practice everyday. Sing aloud till everyone hears you. Dance till you see everyone around grooving like you. And most importantly work hard till your success bows down in front of you. Being consistent sharpens our skills and shows the world what our goals mean to us.

Conclusion: You can only achieve your goals if you want to. You are more powerful than your imagination and nothing in this world is impossible. Stay calm and focused, your success will automatically find its way to you.

  1. Self discipline is the first step towards achieving our goals. Most of the times procrastination becomes our biggest barrier. Achieving our goals gives a tremendous satisfaction.

  2. These are wonderful tips to achieve goals. I believe it is all about being firm and dedicated towards your ambition. if we work hard consistently, then we can achieve anything we want in life.

  3. It’s important to understand that we tend to begin with goals that others have given us, it could be family or friends. But when we find ourselves and our goals, then we need to remain focussed on that alone. You are right, we have to follow our heart, make plans and execute them well.

  4. Well-written article on an important topic. Reading this post makes it appear as if you are writing my story. Like your story, I always prioritized the needs of others and lived my life with the intention of only benefiting the people I cared about. But now I’ve started saying NO and prioritizing my own goals.

  5. Goals in life are definitely important, but one needs to ensure that one is not obsessed with them. Also goals need to be realistic to ensure that frustration and depression do not creep in.

  6. Goals ….. is good as long as its achievable one…. Dreamy goals will not take you anywhere. So we should keep a goal which is feasible or else its better to go with the flow.

  7. Completely agree with you. There should be a goal in every one’s life and we should work towards the goal to achieve. Your pointers are so practical too.

  8. Great tips! As January comes in a few days, for sure most of us are getting ready for a new start. This comes in handy and I hope it inspires a lot of people to crush those goals they’ve wished to achieve. All the best for everyone and A Happy New Year!

  9. Act before you react is one lesson I should learn to master as it has been my weak point. In a conservative set up it is difficult to speak up for a woman but i have always been the outspoken one. But your tips would be helpful for me to speak up at the right time in the right way.

  10. My word for the year is focused! I have ADHD and that’s always sort of gotten in my way. But, I can be really great at goal setting when I set my mind to it. I have made a few big changes this year – one I am off of all social media. That has been my biggest time sucker. And two, I am trying to make MY goals my priority so I do those first. And then work on the rest of my goals. Like you, I tend to prioritize other people’s needs/goals above my own.

    1. Hey Patty! There was a time when I used to prioritize other people above me, but not anymore, and honestly, I feel much more fulfilled now. And
I see you are on your path too! Sticking to your goals and taking a step back off social media is great. I wish you all the success and power my friend. P.S. If you ever feel stuck feel free to ping me: official@aakritidhawan.com
